How we work

We understand that deciding to change jobs can be a daunting experience and have developed our service to help make the transition as smoothly and stress-free as possible. Our service is completely free to jobseekers and confidentiality is guaranteed.

Getting to Know You

MAT Recruit place up to 10,000 people on short or long term assignments and permanent positions each week.

One of the reasons so many of our candidates remain loyal to us is our ability to place them in rewarding and regular assignments that reflect their skills and personalities. We conduct in-depth consultations with everyone who registers with us so we can establish the type of assignments they would be most suited to. Our thorough PC skill evaluations also help us identify specific areas of competency, which assist us in matching candidates to the most appropriate assignments.

Our success in placing so many people in permanent positions stems from our ability to find out as much about our candidates as possible and understand what it is you are really looking for. During your initial consultation when you register, we will encourage you to tell us about your personal goals and aspirations, the type of positions you would be interested in and the style of company you are looking to join. You can be confident that we will not forward a copy of your CV to any of our clients without first seeking your approval.

If we have any suitable assignments, we will tell you about them at your initial consultation. Otherwise, we will actively search to find you work as soon as possible.

Preparing You for Your Assignments

Before each assignment, we will brief you on what the role entails and also tell you about the company and environment before you start the booking. We make a point of visiting our clients to understand their office culture, dress codes and work practices so you are fully prepared from day one.

We call each and every one of our Angels on the first day of a new assignment to ensure they have settled in and are familiar with their responsibilities.

You will be sent a Timesheet for each new assignment that will need to be completed each day and submitted to us at the end of the week so we can process your pay.

Preparing for an Interview

If you’re looking for a permanent position one of the advantages of registering with MAT Recruit is that we can help you prepare fully for any interviews we arrange. For all new vacancies, we can tell you not only what the job entails and the skills and experience required, but also details of the company benefits, hours of work and what the company culture and office environment is like. Then, if you decide you’re interested in the job, we will put you forward for consideration and help you prepare for the interview.

Assignments To Permanent Opportunities

For many people considering changing jobs who don’t know exactly what they are looking for, we would recommend short term assignments as the perfect solution. It will give you an opportunity to gain experience in a wide range of industries and business sectors, develop your skills, and expand your network of contacts until the ideal position becomes available.

MAT Recruit handle thousands of genuine vacancies each week - many of which are never advertised in newspapers or on the internet, so only those registered with us will have the opportunity of knowing which jobs are available at which company and most importantly, when.

Keeping In Touch

We keep in regular contact with our Angels to ensure that you are happy with your assignment and keep informed of your future availability so we can plan your work schedule accordingly.

We also encourage Angels to join us for lunch every Friday whenever possible and attend our regular social events.

In the event that we haven’t been able to arrange an assignment for you, we will ask you to keep in regular contact with us, as assignments often become available without warning and our Consultants cannot always predict when a client will call us with a request for cover.

Points About Your Pay

One of the advantages of working on assignments is that you are paid weekly. With MAT Recruit, pay day is on Friday (except on Bank Holidays) and you have the option of being paid either directly into your bank or building society account or by cheque. Your Tax and National Insurance will be deducted at source. However, for us to be able to administer the correct tax coding, you will need to be issued with either a P45, P46 or P38 before you start your first assignment. If you are from overseas, you must provide a working visa (if applicable) and your passport.

Holiday Pay

All our Angels are entitled to up to 20 days Holiday Pay a year. This means that you can afford to take a well-deserved break without worrying about not earning whilst you relax. The branch you register with will be able to give you more details of the qualifying conditions.

We hope this has given you an overview of the service MAT Recruit offer jobseekers. Staff at one of our branches will be happy to answer any further queries you may have. Alternatively you may wish to click on one of the links below to find out more.
